Alrighty, finally had a bit of time to take some pics and upload em
the car is a '92 SWB Suzuki Sierra
its a soft top and is gonna be bloody mint for summer (cant f***in wait) got her for 3250 with everything currently on her, i havent had the money to do any mods since picking her up last tuesday
Current mods are: 31" BF Goodrich Mud Terrains on white ROH Rims (all brand new) Slight lift kit (not sure on the specs cause there was no history on the car and the chick i bought it off actually had no idea about the aftermarket gear underneath) Rancho RS5000 Shocks with aftermarket steering damper Racing seats aftermarket flares may or may not change these for different flares)
Mods to come: bit of engine work (if not a whole 1.6L vitara engine conversion) extractors and exhaust Body Lift (2 or 3 inches) Side steps Diff Lockers See what i can do about the springs so i can achieve MORE FLEX General clean up of rust and shit, New drivers side door and tail-gate
not really much she needs to be honest, shes a great bus and i couldnt be happier (just gotta figure out how to fold the windscreen down now and get some new stoppers for it cause they have been removed)
heres some pics
Day after i got her
Today, cleaned up and lookin a bit prettier

ill tell u wats not fun about this car is getting it sideways for the first time in the wet this morning, i thought i was gonna roll the bastard hahahaha
dlw- 09-10-2008
nice car. mate has one he done bulk work n had got it high enough to put 34s on it lol he has rolled his few times on the road. he put a 1.6 in his but think he now wish he just turbo the 1.3. so think a turbo 1.6 is on the cards lol
Big Tilly- 09-10-2008
i was thinking (if i can get my hands on one) maybe a twin cam 1.3L out of a swift GTi, i should be able to get one on the cheap through my missus dad (he owns a couple of GTi's and rallies a N/A Quad throttle body GTi) hes a bloody champ too so i should be pretty right for zook parts
dlw- 09-10-2008
haha nice lucky to have those connections
Big Tilly- 09-10-2008
ye, partly the only reason i went looking for a zook, then i realised after driving one just how much fun they are haha, F****g mint cars
not a hell of a lot of space in the tray tho especially with my spare in there at the moment
CW- 09-10-2008
AHAHA yes welcome to the fun.... Putting up with all the bumps and bruises is worth it mate! thats garunteed. I dont think i could ever part with mine, like you said it is just too much fun!
Will have to catch up with you when i get back! We will have to go for some zook photo shoots!!!
MAke sure you join up to www.outerlimits4x4.com
Its a pretty good forum with a dedicated zook section.
Big Tilly- 09-10-2008
will do
and ye i reckon its more fun having a leafy, just feels like ur 4wding as soon as u hit the offroad, not all soft and smooth, thats not wat 4wding's about lol
have u got a decent amount of flex on ur zook? mine seems to have f*** all, might have to get some softer springs, oh and can ya do an "over-leaf" lift? meaning the leafs sit on top of the axle instead of below...
CW- 09-10-2008
Flex isn't too bad in mine, need to muck around with it a little more though.... Once i get full RUF (rears up front) done i should be laughing.
by overleaf lift you are mean SPOA (spring Over Axel). this can be done but if done properly isn't cheap. Not to mention IMHO makes the zook a little bit inclined to tip over even easier then they already do. Then again there was a SPOA ont he trip that me and jas went on and it handled everything very well. mind you i did think i heard that overall (all his modifications) he had spent $20,000 on it.....
I, personally am staying SPUA, but will be doing a chassis extension and applying full RUF as said above..
Have you already got transfer gears in yours? Or are you like mine is now and have no 5th gear on the freeway
CW- 09-10-2008
btw wat brand racing seats are in the thing? cant really get a good look see...
Big Tilly- 09-10-2008
ah ye lol thats wat its called, ive only ever seen it done, never actually read about it. Sounds well expensive anyways. Wat are the advantages of ruf? Wats involved and such? Um ye 5th gear pings out to around 3 and a half doin approx 110km/h, not too sure on exact speed tho, speedo is out like 20 percent
The racing seats i have no idea on, they look like generic jobbies, will take pics tonight, they are comfy as f***, might get a set of 4 point harnesses in time for summer hehe, beach bashin will be hell fun
Have u by any chance had extractors and exhaust system priced up?
Oh and i had the top off lastnight thinkin it would be alright weather today, had to put the soft top back on in a rush, took me 5 minutes to take the bikini off and put the full top back on, was pretty impressed hehe. A fastback softtop is on the christmas list methinks
Tickford XR- 09-13-2008
ok i seriously hate you right now ive been hanging to get another cheap zook and your looks like a great lil beast. what sorta wheeling are you planning on doing and what size tyres do you wanna run??? cos that will pretty much tell you what sorta suspension setup you`ll need to run. spoa is not really a hard mod to do yourself if you somewhat mechanicaly minded and handy with a welder the other option is to run hilux diffs almost bolt straight up just need a few smallish mods and their already spoa but you will need someone that knows what their doing to fit them up properly. best of luck with it tho im sure you'll enjoy it. feel free to pm me on any mods or advice or what ever
Big Tilly- 09-13-2008
cheers mate, for now ill let the funds build back up to a reasonable amount before i do anything too crazy...cheers for the advice, they are bloody hard to find for cheap these things, the reason i picked mine up so cheap was because of a flogged uni joint, the car was vibrating bad at 100km/h so i hoisted her up, checked over everything and found the uni joint that was causing all the problems, 30 bucks later and about an hour of fiddling around and she is running smooth as f***, was clean as a whistle underneath too so i actually picked up quite a bargain, and imo, quite a bit of a fun investment, i cant see me getting rid of it hehe
