Hey guys, i need some help. I have just purchased a new fibreglass bonnet for my au xr6, and althought the fit is very close, it is not exact.

Basically the passenger side is sweet, but the the drivers side sits up to high. Are there any fine adjustments anywhere, like in the hinges or anything. I'm actually pretty bummed it doesnt fit exactly, on the verge of going back to the factory one.

Any help or recomendations on where i can take it for someone to fix it would be awesome. Someone suggested bonnet pins which could be an option because you can actually slightly push it down and she sits flush.

Thanks heaps

is it fibreglass or metal one? if its fibreglass i have heard you can sand down areas where the hinges are to adjust slightly.

You can always adjust bonnets in most directions (to some degree).

Try loosening the bolts on the bonnet (which hold it to the bonnet) just enough so that it holds in place, yet it will move it you push on it, and close the bonnet (maybe not fully) and see if the bonnet can push downwards on that site.

Other than that, you can always cut the holes in the bonnet hinges so that it can slide around a bit more and give you more room for movement

Are there rubber bump stops down near the head lights? ones that can wind up and down? i know older cars have them, to help lift/drop the bonnet to meet the quarters...

yeah you can do that as well, it just depends where its higher, up the front near the headlights or near the windscreen? You didn't really specify in your original post.

if its back edge near hinge theres no adjustment "hammer related" wadesta/face.gif

only what he wrote before sand or grind fiberglass were the hinge mounts.

otherwise may have to shim the guard up bit worse case senario.

otherwise give it to me rolleyes.gif
