Hey guys i might be able to get my hands on some BAII XR8 parts for my 4.0l I6 Automatic AUII Fairmont... but need to know if they will fit without extensive modding...

1. Brakes
2. 6 Speed manual
3. Differential (not sure what ratio think its 3.45 ?)
4. Tailshaft
5. Front 2 seats (Leather)
6. 5.4l V8 (but not to sure about this one.....)

Yup, the brakes will fit, BA brakes will fit anything from AUII upwards (cept FG?). The 6 speed would probably be overkill on the older motor though I would assume, however, having said that the 5.4l will fit in the engine bay quite snuggly. Seen a supercharged 5.4l AU at AFD, looked VERY nice biggrin.gif . I'd assume you'd need to change a few things around, but it shouldn't be very difficult.

The front seats SHOULD fit in without much hassel, but I'm not 100% sure on that one.

As for the diff and tailshaft, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say probably not. But eh, one of the other members should have a better insight into the matter than I. wadesta/thumbsup.gif

WTF!

You sold the XR8 because it was costing you too much, but now you want to put the same motor in an AU?

Dude, you need help!

Motor - Yes it will fit, but will require major upgrades to the x-members and chassis etc.

Seats - Yes

Gearbox - Not a straight bolt up. It would require a lot of work including a custom rear mount.

Diff - the centre should fit straight in

Brakes - Yes, but may require a BA style ABS unit/pump and the BA BDS value.

In the end, it would cost you as much as..... say a sold Blue BF XR8!
Or if done on the cheap, would take 10 years and cost you about the same.......

That AU had a 4.6L modular from a mustang, same size though.

Theres the build thread, 300 rwkw with 10psi and a heap of punch.

Depends how much you can do really.

your's being a live axle and not irs to begin with why bother,

You cant fit an AU IRS straight into a live axle AU with out welding on all the boss/mounts etc for it. so the BA unit wont then for sure, plus the BA irs is week and flimsey
