hahah, damn, if i go aftermarket ecu, i will be goin a funnel web manifold. but other wise, if clearence is an issure, and cutting them support webing in the hood doesnt help, got no choice there.

Well ran into another problem, the 1.6crane rockers are pushing the valves open a few mm, so push rods gona need to be changed or maybe source some 1.6 adjustables? if they are available.

XH5LWEPN- 06-02-2009
Nah definately need new shorter pushrods.
Adjusting the rockers allows you to get correct lifter pre-load.

Hmm, strange thing is when the 1.72s where on there, they where fine, well in saying that i never checked before removing. Im assuming if the heads have been faced the said 30thou, the rods should be done anyway.

How you check lifter pre load again? its with the lifter fuller bled down then check clearence from rocker tip to valve.

Yep, the lifter must be bled down.
But there is NO clearance between rocker and valve tip on a hyd roller set-up, thats only solid.
Once the lifter is bled down and the rocker your adjusting is on the opposite side of the lobe on the cam, hold the pushrod between your fingers and twist it while turning down the adjuster on the rocker.
Once you feel the pushrod getting abit of friction from the rocker adjuster, stop there then set your pre-load.
Which may be a 1/4, 1/2 or a full turn further. Then lock it up.

Ah alright, yep thats how i did the 1.72 on the EF.

Well i took another look then at the motor, the lifter seemed to have bled down over night, now all the valves are closed where they should be, and the pushrod can also be freely turned, why would of they push the valves open last night when i bolted them on, hmm
