I've had a couple of warnings over the years about little tyre squeals leaving carparks etc, I've been lucky enough that it's been cops, not highway pigs and so a warning is sufficient (as it should be), I know plenty of people who haven't been so lucky, including someone who got done for excessive noise in a 100% stock ss commonwhore, he just revved his pathetic stock exhaust at the wrong time, the highway pig even wrote sorry on the fine and drew a smiley face. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate highway cops?

maybe if we just let p platers cut up empty carparks they will stop cutting their cars in half on the highway? but theres definitely more money in fining everyone who drops a skid

I people want things changed they need to go through the right ways, this is not aimed at anyone in particular. Everyone seems to want to winge and bitch about this law but has anyone ever sat down and written a letter to their local MP about the matter? Stating the rather grey matter of this law? And how it seems that the police don't seem to know where it changes from a normal charge to being "hoon" driving.

If you really know what you are talking about and have issues with the law or how it is policed then write away. You can also write the a letter to the police commissioner, the RAC, CMC (we have a rep for this, so pm a staff member with the letter and our rep can bring it up at a meeting if its applicable).

If you know you were in the wrong then cop it on the chin, if you know you are not in the wrong then fight it.

Xran- 11-01-2009
Fight it regardless. The POLICY OFFICERS have no more right or authority to tell you how to drive your car/what to do than The Hamburglar does when you walk into McDonald's. Why do I say this? Because the over-lording government is a registered business on the New York Stock Exchange. The only time there is any actual cause for you to provide someone a remedy is if you cause them an inury. If there's no injured party then there's no harm done and you don't owe anybody anything. End of story.

Now, with regard to the hoon laws - they're double jeopardy. You aren't to be punished without being trialled by your peers (jury). It's in section 3 I think of the constitution. Was there a jury present to decide if your car should've been confiscated? I think not. Therefore the POLICY OFFICER has acted as judge jury and executioner and you've already been punished. So if you then go to court as well and get punished again on a seperate occasion for the same crime........... tell me how it isn't double-jeopardy...?

Anyway, I'm done. People will think I'm on crack soon - if they don't already. Chad if you want anymore info mate or help with fighting it then shoot me a PM smile.gif

Seems to be alot of anger pointed at police here? They are enforcing legislation that was pushed into parliament by the representatives voted in by YOU, the public. (*general public)

Hahahaha... Jase, I've never been hoon-lawed and nor do I intend to. The first post was about a mate's car and the condition he got it back in. I was just asking if anyone had a similar experience.

I agree with you Danc666 and would put pen to paper if I believed it would make a difference, but the PR gurus have done their jobs and convinced the public that the ultimate danger to their lives on the roads are "hoons". Find me a local MP, who intends on keeping their position in parliament, who is going to speak up against this legislation?

CQB, the way I see it, the anger aimed at police in some cases is because it's up to their discretion as to whether an offence is classed as "hooning". As for those representatives voted in by us, no matter who we vote in, we're going to end up with bullshit like this. They can push this through without any input from the *general public, yet they have to have a vote for daylight savings, instead of pushing that through like they should have! My computer wants daylight savings and my phone wants daylight savings, but people are too bloody scared of change to think clearly to make an informed decision. But hey, that's probably for a whole new thread!!!

Haha nah mate, there's no anger towards the POLICY OFFICERS. In fact I feel sorry for the ones who are there thinking they're making a difference in the world and having a positive impact. They're totally oblivious to the fact that their role within the system is doing the complete opposite and helping us to all become enslaved. They're brainwashed into doing things a certain way, as are we.

And yes, they are indeed POLICY OFFICERS - because that's what they do. They 'enforce' the policies set-out by the corporation known as the GOVERNMENT OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA (listed on NYSE). They aren't taught the intimate workings though so they're unaware of just how enslaved they are too.

Oh, the caps aren't yelling either. They're the official and correct way of describing anything that's a legal entity wink.gif Anyway I'm off to go and smoke more crack haha.

No worries Chad, thought I remembered it being your car haha. If any shit does happen to hit the fan then feel free to PM me, I can either help you out or point you to another mate who's better at it than me at this stage smile.gif

I was just generalising.

Scaffy - you make a good point, Xran - i agree with your opinion on the WA Govt. oh, and enjoy your crack biggrin.gif

danc666- 11-02-2009
We all know that these laws are not the best, they can be changed if enough people speak up about them in the right way. <------- that's what i was
getting at. The cops are doing their job (some might be a bit over zealous). The government makes the laws so direct your anger at them in the right way.

The thing that shits me the most on the roads is the constant running of red lights that i see! I would be close to one car at every set of lights. One thing that would make our roads safer is more red light cameras.
Remember that little that died? That same week at the same intersection i saw at least 4 cars run the red. That and 4wd's hooning down the freeway along with traidie type utes that are over loaded and towing a trailer.

What was that topic again?? Oh yeah the Condition Of Cars after being hoon-lawed.

uglybob- 11-02-2009
where exactly is the state govt listed on a stock exchange?

Highway Pigs care for nothing but big numbers on their sheets, they have a quota, they admit they have a quota and then it gets leaked that 80% of fines are for 4km's over the limit (used to be 7) eg: 64 in a 60 zone, why? becuase it's 1km enough to fine someone, so they set their radar to 64 and regardless of what speed someone is travelling the radar says 64, hence why it is always an ALLEGED speed, and so it always come down to their word versus yours and they are a fat useless prick with a badge so their word wins.

Police are fine, but highway pigs can drive their orange striped commonwhores into trees for the rest of enternity for all I care

oh btw someone brought up daylight savings, I am genuinely intersted as to why people like to be woken up by the sun at 330am and for it to still be sunny outside at 10pm?

Agree with you completely on Hwy Patrol.

Daylight savings - this is what I'm talking about... Sun comes up at 0330 and goes down at 2200??? So there's only 5.5hrs of night and 18.5hrs of daylight? All it's doing is winding the clock forward an hour (I hope I got it right, it even confuses me!) to take advantage of the daylight in the later hours of the day after work. In effect, it gets light an hour later and dark an hour later, that's all. Great if you want to go down the beach after work or do whatever and enjoy a bit of sunlight.

fnp- 11-03-2009
Daylight savings is dumb. If daylight is in such demand why not put it during winter when light is at a premium.

Tapper21- 11-03-2009
daylight savings doesn't extend anything though, It frustrates me when people don;t understand that (most pro dst people I know only want it becuase they are retarded and actually think the sun will be forced to stay out longer) all it does is wake you up an hour early, and keep you up an extra hour at night, so all it really does is steal 2 hours of your sleep, bulk stress for everybody.....yay

NB I am not insulting anyone or their opinion but if you do believe that dst forces the sun to physically stay out longer then please go find a crayon and do something else.

uglybob- 11-03-2009
how does it wake you up earlier and keep you up at night? huh.gif

Tapper21- 11-03-2009
I realise everyone is different, but most people I know have a fairly concrete routine i guess you'd call it with what time they wake up, what time the go to bed etc, generally this routine is set by work/children/whatever.

If something is changed, you have to adjust to it, which in the case of daylight savings you need to adjust to getting up an hour earlier (doesn't matter what the clock says you are getting up an hour early)

Then at night time in the middle of summer it is generally still bright outside until at least 9, but with the clock wound forward this changes to at least 10, I don't know anybody who finds it easy to fall asleep while it is still light outside, and what basically happens is everyone is still awake at 12pm+ when they normally wouldn't, and like I said they are still getting up an hour early.

If daylight savings was permanent then eventually everyone would adjust, but because it is only for a few months by the time you get used to it you have to adjust back again. If people wanted to wind the clock forward one hour indefinitely then I would be more open to the idea, after all winter is when you really need the extra hour after work to get things done imo
