Just a quick question to those who've lost their cars after being hoon-lawed. When you got your car back, was it in the same condition as when they took it?
One of my mates lost his Skyline for 7 days. He got it back, drove home and on the way noticed it was running like shite and making all kinds of noises! Also, half of the interior was not together properly. He checked the fluids. Oil was below the minimum line, half the water out of the radiator. Power-steering fluid gone.
Anyone had this?

not heard of it directly
but have heard of cars coming back damaged from the tow to the impound yard
funny thing is on a bike forum someone got done and was askign the towy what happens of it gets scratched/damaged on the truck or in the impound yard
towy replied with your problem not mine....

A rock through the ****'s windscreen next time you see it on the road and it would then be his problem.
I guess if you took photos of it on your phone as soon as you got out of the car and when you get it back take photos of it and it's damaged, someone would have to be accountable. Just need a good lawyer and if one person had a win, shit would be a whole lot different. Dogs!

i think the coppers do it to teach u a lesson..

the cops probably spend the entire time they have the car driving it exactly how it was being driven when they took it. Nobody would ever take my car regardless of what law they reckon it was, i'd sooner torch it in front of them then let them touch it.

I took photos of my mileage right before it went on the tow truck, along with the fuel economy and that, and made sure the tow truck driver saw me do it. My car was taken to the Osbourne Park depot and it was a little dusty after the week of impound, but not a single thing was touched on the inside and it had driven and kms at all.

thats kinda expected out of a skyline

Ok ill answear this cause im so pro at this even tho i wish i wasnt
They do a search over the car before it gets on the truck, anything broken will be marked on their tow sheet. If you file for complaint after u pick it up and it isnt on the list then stiff shit, they say u did it

Take pictures of the car (as many as you want) with the date and time on each photo. I'd think there would be forms to fill out (with dates and times on them), take picture of that, and do the same when you pick it up. Then you have hard evidence hey?
Tapper21- 10-26-2009
I doubt it would help you, the way that people are so hyped up about hoons it's as if we have no rights whatsoever as soon as a cop even mentions the word, and you could always try and take it to court but you'd end up seeing one of the same pricks that has just sentenced another 20 people to 6 months without a license and I can't see them caring about your car.
makes me wonder, if they reckoned they were towing your car could you refuse their tow truck and call your own? legally I don;t see why not, but I guess it doesn't matter, being caught with a modified car is worse than being caught with drugs these days

I think my bro inlaws sister got done once, in their new clubby, and she told them "f*** off, your not putting my car on a towtruck!" and I think she drove it to the impound yard herself, parked it up, and took her keys home. Not sure if it happened though

lol good story if its true , id do the exact same thing haha
CQB- 10-26-2009
One simple way to avoid this problem..... Dont drive like a f***wit... problem solved.
XF Falcon- 10-26-2009
Not always the case CQB. I got hoon lawed under different circumstances where the police created speed readings in order to confiscate my car. When it actually happens they don't have to prove anything they can take your car and then its up to the courts many months later to prove you are innocent or not. For what its worth I got off as the police were lying.

All i can say is take pics of everything! odometer, fuel economy, fluid levels the whole bit. that way if it comes back any different you have some evidence to take things further
