hey everyone

i have noticed that my car has been going through a shit load of coolant ever since...... well ever since i have had it. lol. now i took her down the park yesterday for some photos and with in ten minutes there would have been about litre of coolant flowing away from the car, i got down on the ground and noticed just a continuous flow coming out from the overflow tube. i grabbed the tube and even with me holding in upright there was still coolant pouring out......

i filled it up yesterday ad now my light has come on again saying its empty.... which sucks cause im continuously buying coolant and keeping an eye on my car.

does anyone no whats going on her or should i take her to ford or somewhere to get checked out.

any help is greatly appreciated.

cheers everyone

could be something like a blocked radiator, f***ed water pump, or even a too low pressure cap.

Check that your radiator cap is the correct type for a recovery system.

The standard non recovery cap only has one rubber seal, while a recovery system cap has 2 rubber seals.

If you have the incorrect radiator cap on the car it will do exactly as you describe and dump coolant.

I have seen what you are descrbing happen more than once, when people fit the incorrect type of radaitor cap.

thanks for your help

hopefully this is the end of this topic for me lol

that doesn't seem quite right to me. As the e series don't have a recovery system. i would check the pressure capacity of your cap it might be too low or just old and stuffed

Hey mate, an idea would be to do this urself or take it to a garage and have them do it, but either way, have the whole system power flushed,(air & water) against the normal flow direction, with the flow direction and then against it once more.(remove the thermostat when doing power flush) Have the thermostat replaced, check factory spes for the correct radiator cap, and install a new one of those too. Also Do a pressure test on the cooling system. These ideas may possibly be the cheapest fault finding options before water pump replacement or radiator replacement.
Hope this helps,
Sorry if anyone disagree's with my theory, feel free to correct it.

Good one !

My previous advice was assuming that your vehicle is running a recovery tank.

If it is not and the radiator overflow line dumps directly to the ground, I would suggest that you need a new non-recovery type radiator cap, rated at the correct pressure i.e 13-16 PSI is the norm.

Most auto part shops should be able to put you on the right track.

Cheers
