I just want the wheels on my car - I dont care if your wrong
XtRmn8- 06-24-2009
Coming up pretty nice
Did you get the wheels locally or ebay?
Jezz- 06-24-2009
wheels were from ebay... would never buy from a tyre shop again, the net is soooooo much cheaper.
So it turns out i was wrong, on a technicallity i think. We got the wheels on the front. They just managed to scrape under the guards which have been previously rolled. But there only about 2mm clearance from the top steering joint thing of which im stil sceptical of.
Anyways im sure elle will have pics up this morning, if she gets to work avoiding any pot-holes...

Dont worry about that clearance man, if theres any clearance there at all it will be fine. That part of the suspension/steering doesnt move, its fixed between the ball joint and hub as one complete piece. Check your AU, the clearance is probly just as tight. I'd say the profile of the tyre is just a bit big. This can vary depending on brand. My mate had a set of 245/35/19's that did NOT clear the upper ball joint on his EL XR8, i tried my 245/35/19's and they were sweet, with about 4mm clearance. The difference between brands is amazing.

I think they are nexen? Yes managed to negotiate through road works and shitty country roads to make it here unscathed.....I will post some pics in a sec

yeh the au's got about 5mm clearance. wheel size is pretty much exactly the same too.
Ba's got no guard clearance at the front, tyre sits in the guard slightly. but so long as we dont hit any major bumps in full lock it should be right
