Yes, you did read the topic title correctly!

Basically I wanted to seek your opions on what to do with my focus, in regards to it's exhaust and what not.

I don't know exactly what I am after. But I do know this, I want the thing to stop sounding like a girls car, and have a bit more beef behind it. I would prefer it not to be like those lancer's with the huge cannons that only lose performance. Ultimately, performance is not an issue, I just want the nice grunt sound that Falcon's have, and other car's have. I don't want to spend much on it, and I don't need a fully sick custom made system to impress the boys! Ahaha smile.gif

Where should I go? What do I need? How much do I need to pay? Sorry about all the questions, I am an idiot!

Thanking You
Nick

Yeah mate,

I sent the guy from Mindare Exhaust an email. Hopefully he can give me some advice.

The guy from Ian Diffen in my area wanted to do a cat back system up to the tip, for roughly $400. But I don't think I need that much. So I was hoping a few people could give me their opinions on what to do!

Other then a catback all you can really do is chop mufflers out. Myself id go that bit extra and get a proper exhaust, it will sound better and go better aswell.

Very true,

A few places in WA (I won't name them, just incase) have told me that they can do: (and I quote)

"You can just change the main muffler the system is stainless steel mandrel bent & is big enough

$300.00 to put a stainless muffler or $150.00 for a mild steel one"

Does that sound right? And what exactly would that be?

danc666- 01-06-2009
That would be a straight through muffler, which is a bit better flowing and sounding.

Ah I see,

Would that make it a fair bit louder, or minimal? Or would it just turn into a ricer?

hard to say cause actually every exhaust is just that little much different depending on what the composition of the steel made to make it is.

IMO might give it a tiny type note, but in the case of my mate with a 2008 CJ lancer he got a cannon fitted by Mindarie Exhaust and i was all thats going to sound ghey but its actually quite good and not bad note, rest of his system is stock as.

Oh yeah.

Maybe I could give the cannon a shot for a while, until I get the funds up to go for a full new system. Could be worth a shot? Any idea how much he paid mate?

was a decent cannon not a cheapy but cant say excatly as i dont know.

might pay to give lee & tiana a call might get your answer quicker as they are very busy shop. 94079899 say you were speaking with gav from the site and your wanting to know about the cannon that shaun got fitted to his lancer(they might recall might not hehe)

good luck.

nickOH- 01-06-2009
Just called them up then mate.

Basically we discussed the cannon, or a sports muffler with tip. I think we decided on a sports muffler, because it's easier to fit and will probably fit a focus better.

I think it was something like a sports muffler, with 2 1/4 tip? For roughly $200. Does that sound right?

P.S They do recall his lancer wink.gif

biggav- 01-06-2009
yep sounds about right go for it.

Disco Frank- 01-06-2009
yes i would go with the sports muffler

u will get a good note without the rice factor of the milo can sized cannon

1 day i will buy a ricer and build it to put to shame every other ricer tongue.gif

nickOH- 01-06-2009
Yeah the ricer factor really bothered me. Considering my focus is made in Spain, not ricer land. And plus, what kind of a Ford man would want a ricer car anyway!

You should check out a few UK based clubs and forums, the Focus is a pretty big thing there.
