Not realy an issue but thought it mite be help full for some people, including my own knowledge. When removing the Flywheel/ring gear, does it have to go back on in the same place it came off, only asking cause saw a tickford video of the 250kw motor being built and noticed the engine was being balanced with the flywheel attached?? so this leads me to think on some engines, particuler windsor tickfords need to be carefull with in putting it back on in the same spot???!

How ever i know it doesnt matter with all engines as when i had my clevo built, it was all done sepretly so i know for sure its ok to put it on in any postion.

Just throwing this one out there for ya's and to clear this up for me!

i would have thought it would have a keyway or something along those lines?

nope, the clevo and windosor dont have a keyway, and the auto flywheel is identical between the two motors. i think some engines do though,

The engine would have been fully balanced and blueprinted.. It's not something that'd be regularly done, but would help to reduce roughness..

If you put it back in the wrong spot I doubt you'd notice.. but it's easy enough to mark it when removing..

You are right though, if the flywheel/torque converter is bolted up to one end of the crank and the balancer at the other end, it's blueprinted. If it's just the crank being done then the engine is only balanced.

Thus endeth the lesson.

hahahaha you crack me up!

forgot about this topic

So at least we know the difference between balancing and blue printing, there's always been conflicting/mis-understanding about this being the same/different thing.

well, obviously the conrods and slugs are attached to the crank as well.... but yeah. You get it tongue.gif
