cheers!

THE most obvious route is forced injection. There's quite a few turbo'd e-series in the club, so any advice required on turbocharging shouldn't be too hard to find. Supercharging is another good one, although not many (if any?) people in the club have fitted superchargers to a 6-cylinder, let alone an E-series. Powerdyne do a supercharger setup, but having said that, going down that road would require a larger exhaust (unless you've fitted a 3-inch to your car already).

Other mods include a Cold Air intake, throttle body (which isn't generally done much because its bang for buck is almost non-existant), a cam upgrade and tuning. You could also look at the other end, fitting a set of diff gears and an LSD in the bum. 3.7's and 3.9's are pretty common, but there's a few in the club that have gone up to the 4.11's. That'll help you get up to speed quicker anyway, not necessarily add more power biggrin.gif. There's a few members that have fitted KAAZ LSD's to their cars, and although they're expensive, they swear by them.

Adding a tickford head will get you some gains, porting and polishing is always an option, as is going a 5-speed biggrin.gif . Of course, if you start adding power, you'll quickly discover that the T5 isn't going to be your best friend.

It all boils down to how much you are willing to spend on her. At the end of the day, it could be a cheaper (and better option, power-wise) to consider either doing an engine swap (An AU 220kw engine perhaps?), or upgrading the car altogether.

I'm sure I've missed something really obvious in the mods list here, but I'm sure one of the other guys will pick up on it anyway biggrin.gif .

hey mate i wouldnt say its slow those el's still keep up with ba xr6
but also all the cars that showed up to that cruise were v8s turbos and performance cars so i wouldnt feel to bad mate i love my ef

no need to post here has the guru chris has nailed it in the head haha but will add my 2c worth anyways.

first stop would be a manual converson as stated better ratios than the auto ones, diff gears is next one i would say you have 3.23 in the bum unless its a XR then could have the 3.45's would say 3.7/3.9 is all you need there.

engine side of things would be a swap to a later AU motor is bang for buck, cam swap is highly recomended but dont go hoping for huge increases there but will be better than stock no less. high up on the list is engine rebuild with higher comp pistons and such but most people when rebuilding got the forced route(turbo)

tune is either thru aftermarket ECU's or the CAPA switchchips other than that not much can be done there.

Exhaust side of things are remember size doesnt matter 2.5" is a good all round size unless bulk power(re: turbo) is on hand where a 3"-4" is maybee required. go set of mandrel bent headers and "sports exhaust" and should make you happy with nice note to boot.

being yours is a EL you can go the BA GT snorkel or the AU T series/XR8 jobbie as it will let more air in which equals better bang.

hope thats enough info for you as i need a sleep now after remembering all that haha.

Mate LB ZH has said most of it. Supercharger kits can be had for $5-6k, turbo setup would be $5k and up depending on what you use and how far you go. In doing that you might want to add in the cost of a lowerend rebuild with stronger rods and pistons $1-2k. Cheeper mods would be CAI it dont need to be fancy just a hole cut with a pipe running to the front to get cold air $30 for diy to $300 for ss induction type. A cam $300-400. Exctractors if you dont already have them $300-400. Also what are you plugs and leads like? replacing them may give you back some lost power. Also look at getting a shiftkit for your auto it will firm up the shifts and make your car feel better when changing.

Hope this helps,
Dan.

i was happy with my xr6 that i estimate would have run a 14.3 or thereabouts, that had pod filter, proted and shaved head running rough 9.8 compression, standard tickford ecu, standard tickford cam, lukey extractors and exhaust, thremo fans and was also a five speed,i was really impressed how it went and sounded,i did drag off a few cars,1 being a stock turbo s15 silvia and he couldnt get away from me and others being shit box Crumpledores,if i had gone cam and stiffer valvesprings and maybe some more port work i would have been a speed machine

14.3 out of having a shaved head? Dude.... No. haha sorry but just no.

If you only spend $5k on a turbo setup then it's not going to be reliable. Do it once and do it properly!! Otherwise you'll have nothing but trouble with it and never get to actually enjoy having the bloody thing on the road.

Although most things have been said, its better to get an idea before you start.

If you are going naturally aspirated, then 5 speed should hold up, then a bit of motor work (cam, uping comp, porting, etc) and a set of diff gears will make a world of difference.

If you are contemplating a forced induction setup, a 5 speed will break with a fair bit of grunt and abuse, A auto would suffice but a larger trans cooler will be a neccesity. Also inspect the head/gasket, perhaps even redo the head before you put the blower/turbo on. Also be prepared for the need of redoing a diff, gearbox, motor.

I would highly recommend a set of 3.7-3.9 diff gears as they change the car's gearing to make it have more urge.

haha yeah, believe it or not,it was one of those freak motors, also did roughly 230-240kmh with a touch more to go,i was driving it and i stand by it,i wish i still had the car

plus im a good driver hehehe

thanks guys!!!! that really helped!!

yeh i might get a manual gear box and do some work or swap the engine to an AU one.

yeh...i think i wouldnt have any money for turbo and stuff.....seeing that i m only part time......

anyway thank u all!!

btw, do u know anyone who r selling a manual gear box? lol
