Yeah Ben I know what you mea..... Oh, wait... vaLVoline.... Sorry, I thought you said something else . If you don't mind blowing money on oil, I've heard that Royal Purple stuff (or whatever the f*** its called) is pretty good. Other than that, Penrite?

any 1 got a idea what type 50 or 40????
WILS_88- 11-21-2008
Dont go too thick as it stuffs the VCT up man, 10w40 is normally alright for the turbos

use to only used valvaline changed to magnatic right price to my model anyway.
for your model on the castrol website seems to recomend CASTROL EDGE SPORT 10W-60 Castrol Edge Sport 10W-60 is a full synthetic SAE 10W-60, API SM/CF, ACEA A3/B3/before engine oil which is race proven for highly stressed competition engines and older technology sports cars and luxury sedans. Its wide viscosity rating provides excellent start-up wear protection and superior engine protection under every condition of operation.
May also use CASTROL EDGE SPORT 0W-40 or CASTROL MAGNATEC.
even thou only recomends magnatec and gtx3 for FG ,model seems to be wrong.

wouldnt touch valvoline at all.
recommend penrite hpr10 as its good for turbz and good weight oil, if need be a hrp15 at max but may getting to thick.

For what its worth I've always run Fuchs 10w40 and I've never had a problem in that department. Favourite and best oils are like clits though - every c***s got one (excuse the language).
My opinion is that so long as you buy oil of the correct viscosity and a reasonable brand (not dodgy home brand shit or anything) you should be fine so long as you change it on a regular interval. Ford recomment 15k service intervals for the BA turbo - way too long. I don't leave mine any longer then 5000k's and if the car has been working hard then I'll change it a lot sooner then that. I heard someone say that once oil has been up to a certain temperature its f***ed and needs to be changed and I reckon he's got a point there.

yeah ive been pushing my car quite hard and it has started to to lose some oil not sure why maybe just burning up ???? no smoke no leaks not sure were its gone lol
mamajet- 11-21-2008
totally agree with earlier changes than ford recommend thats my policy too.
mmm cant say I push my baby too hard....well not all the time!

My car is serveced at ford, and it says in the book they gave me with the warrenty every 3000kms. I push it out to 5000 tho. But as said any good brand will be fine as long as its correct viscosity it will be fine.

Royal purple or BP 5000 are the only 2 oils i would use. Exy but quality.

as i would always say... you get what you pay for (unless on special) .
But if your's is a newish engine, i'd go with a 10W-60, with an older engine like mine... a 20W-50 or 60... whatever you can find.
Really... everything u get these days is according to the price. You pay more, you get better etc (sometimes specials and such).
please dont quote me on this, but just my 2 cents
