can anyone help me. my stereo has s*** itself. my friend who set it up is overseas atm and wont b back for ages
he has set it up that all my speakers run off a 4 channel amp, and my sub off a 2 channel amp, i dont hav much idea about the set up and wires, i have recently pulled teh speakers out and hooked them up to the deck becuase the 4 channel amp has blown up i fink, can anyone tell me how you can tell if its blown up or not, and what i should do next

what exactly is the amp doing ?? have you tried just plugging it directly in without speakers attached ??

im guessing its coming on and then about 2 seconds later shuts down ? like its overloaded or something ??

have you checked the amp fuse (blade fuse/s on the amp itself) and or the fuse for the power (which should be located as close to the battery as possible..

thats given that the amp is not switchin on.

if not have a look at the signal wire for the amp and make sure that its getting power. if its run off the accessories then check that fuse aswell..

yea.. i turned down the gain a fair amount and just dont turn that cd up to loud biggrin.gif and its all good biggrin.gif still enought to shake the seats and see 6 copies ofthe car behind me at the same time in the rearview mirror tongue.gif

The only reason the big gold one in the engine bay will blow is if there's a direct short somewhere. The ones rated at 150A etc (like mine) are a waste of time... a battery has an inbuilt fuse of around 75A and will blow long before those gold ones will.

At least that's what the people at my old battery shop told me. I became somewhat a regular there after frying numerous batteries... oops. Maybe I should stop connecting the terminals backwards hey Chris tongue.gif
