Plazmaman make some nice stuff!! looks of very high quality!!

Yeah I can't fault the finish of any of the parts yet (haven't started fitting yet though heh)

Ripped off everything apart from the inlet manifold, there's still about 5 bolts I will tackle in the morning. The garage is a mess with parts, and its 1 am so I'll call it a night I think.

Found a few missing bolts around the turbo area, which I was expecting as everyone has issues with loose/missing bolts on their XR6T's!

One of the 4 bolts holding the turbo onto the exhaust manifold was missing

And a bolt which goes on a bracket from the engine to the dump pipe was missing. The other end of the bracket was also a few turns loose.

Nothing too major, I've never had any boost leaks so it must not be too bad I guess.

More adventures tomorrow I think smile.gif

Yeah all the heat works the bolts lose, mine had two missing when ford went to tighten them. every 10000kms they should be checked and re tightened.

Hey mike where did you get that "bunch of bananas" intake manifold on the table from tongue.gif wadesta/thumbsup.gif

XF Falcon- 08-31-2008
hey mate, that custom intake manifold is a custom "backyard" job smile.gif
I can make you one in a few weeks if you are willing to wait wink.gif
Tastes good too!

Hmm! Edible car parts.Thats recycling at work for you biggrin.gif

I reckon hey! You put the raw parts into the engine, and by the time you get to your destination, open the bonnet and your dinner is served wink.gif

I was working on the car till late on Sat night, managed to polish the throttle body by hand (sandpaper and autosol!!). Its not perfect, I can't figure out how to get into all the tight gaps and corners sad.gif

Here is a before photo (with some "test" spots polished) and an after (5 hours later!) photo:

Thats a pretty fair effort at polishing Mike.I have a calico wheel attatched to my bench grinder I use for polishing.Works great. wadesta/thumbsup.gif

XF Falcon- 09-01-2008
My old man has a bench grinder, you can put a calico wheel on there cant ya...

Where can I pick up one of those from? wound bunnings and that have it?

foz- 09-01-2008
I got mine at a tool shop in Joondalup but they should be at bunnings. You also need a bar of polish.
If you can't find one you are welcome to use mine.

BIONIC- 09-01-2008
Use a dremel with the little pads to get into the tight spots wadesta/thumbsup.gif

XF Falcon- 09-02-2008
Well it took a lot of mucking around, but the turbo finally came off!
I'll be taking it to get modded tomorrow, ported wastegate, larger flapper valve and 12psi actuator.

Will probably take off the compressor housing and polish that too while I have it out of the car.
