got another question bout the exhaust on ford turbos. is there any benefit of having an expensive cat like XFT's over hollowing out the stock one. when i got my car tuned they said my 3.5" metal cat wasnt flowing enough and i should upgrade to a 5" but i just spent hundreds on my cat. if i get a turbo again i wanna just get rid of the middle muffler like u did and either get the 5" cat or hollow mine out like u did. why do people spend the 700 bucks on the xft cat when they could hollow the stock one out? i know its illegal. but reasons other than that id love to know.

and what be like marks workshop and get bent over by the EPA and DPI for emissions?

huh?

by choppin the cat out completely leads to you a MASSIVE fine that would be resembling and bend over in prison.
a certain workshop up in york has been believed to been choppin cats out of there cars worked on up there and now is looking at big fines for doing so.
thats what i ment carl.

yeah don't know if I'd be removing a cat.. I've heard of some reasonable power figures out of turbos with stock exhausts though, 5" cat seems way overkill

most xr6 tuners have custom made 4inch or 5 inch cats. XFT has a special custome 4inch dump and 5 inch cat system. Im not worried about fines cause its hard to tell the difference between a hollowed out cat and a stock cat. i thought it was harder to tune a hollowed out cat. if theyre the same to tune then ill just punch out my next cat and remove middle muffler. save 400 bucks (or 700 for the XFT one)

yeh hard to spot a hollowed out cat it may be but when a oxy probe is up the tail pipe all secrets are revealed but each to their own i guess.
sorry to hijack your thread mike.

No worries, any time Barry

Why are you punching out cats?? It won't make that huge of a difference. They are there and a legal requirement for a reason.
XF Falcon- 02-19-2009
I don't think I said anywhere that my cat is punched out
But in theory a hollowed out cat would be the highest flowing cat you could have, so in theory it would provide the least resistance compared to other types of cats.
But yeah I agree its there for a reason (environmentally and legally)

I don't know if your average copper carries these, but you can get infrared temperature sensors. So if your cat is not what it should be (ie a straight through pipe or whatever) it only takes two seconds to find it with one of these.

I'm not suggesting yours is either, but there shouldn't really be any reason for it on the street.
If your car is making 11ty bajillion rwhp, different story, but it on't be driven on the street as often as the Falcons on here that LEAST hit the streets.

Well I finally fitted my polished rocker cover. I purchased it a few weeks before Powercruise last year and never bothered to fit it.
Just need to figure out what rocker cover garnish to buy/use now, as the stock black one looks okay, but I don't like all the open spots at the back of it.
Excuse the dodgy mobile phone photo. I'll get a better one eventually.
