at least the belt didn't go flying through the radiator and cause more damage.. its crap how you buy stuff nowadays and it doesn't last 12 months when the old gear replaced by it had lasted 20+ years or something..

You'd think with technological improvements thinks would run better for longer :/

Sarge- 10-12-2008
I was thinking that. i shouldn't be so damn shy. now im kicking myself mad.gif . Looks like you were having fun tho biggrin.gif

Looking at the incar video it happened on the third lap.So I did the rest of the 20 minutes and drove home with the belt like that. tongue.gif

I actually thought the first two I took for a ride may of been you and your dad. They said they were doing up an XY together that started out as a 6 but it was Tan in colour. wadesta/thumbsup.gif

Pro Comp alternator?

Yep mate.Have you heard bad things about them?
My original 55 amp alternator survived 2 track days and it was 37 years old.

Sarge- 10-12-2008
ive been hearing they arnt too good. blink.gif

foz- 10-12-2008
The alternator wasn't the only problem I had unfortunately.I had 12-15 psi of fuel pressure.Way too much for a carby engine. It was running mega rich all day.By the last Powercruise I was having trouble starting it.A new pressure regulator is needed to sort it out.I may have to take it off the road for a little while and get these little dramas sorted properly.Iv'e got a few new bits to go on as well so it's not all bad.I have a couple of weeks holidays after xmas and I wan't to drag it a couple of times so I want it all sorted by then.

biggav- 10-12-2008
at least foz it can be rebuilt/fixed

was great weekend by all accounts

foz- 10-12-2008
Yer nothing too drastic there Gav.Just have to keep on top of it or it snowballs into a big drama.

Sarge- 10-12-2008
Or maybe its just an excuse to fit that 8/71 your hiding biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I have actually.

More or less on fordforums.com.au , theres a 3 page thread on Pro Comp alternators, a few problems here and there, some breaking on unusual places.

I was doing a bit of research on them for my panel van, seemed nothing from procomp is any good on anything other than a stocker. The distributrs they do are just knock offs of MSD and the likes but most people dont know until the go bang.

Anyways, its good its something minor and replacable, i know after hearing a few pops and bangs from a few cars today, they'll need more than a alternator. biggrin.gif

Still love the way the wheels came out on your car, really finishes it off nicely

So she'll be ready for the track soon eh?

Iv'e got a little list of things to do first Jason but that is my next target.Get the car to run 12.5 in full street trim. That was always my target.
The wheels came out pretty good. You have to be a bit careful putting big rims on an older car. They can look out of place but these Torque Thrust rims seem to suit older style cars.
