OK got the car back with it's new "soft" tune to look after the plugs. Not too impressed as it is down a bit on power in the top end but I will live with it for a while and see how it goes.Got the new rocker covers with the oil breathers on the front on both sides and it appears to have cured the problem of blowing oil out thr drivers side cover at high revs.
Cheers

I'll make up my mind after the drags on the 10th.If it won't pull hard to the limiter I will probly get it retuned.May need bigger jets in the secondaries.

Some of you may know I didn't make it to the drags. The dodgy tune I was woried about struck on Monday and the car is sidelined again.I rang the dude who tuned it and he was goung to send a tow truck to get the car but I rang him back and said I don't want it towed.I'm a bit worried about it being damaged.I told him I will take the carby off and drop it out there so he can clean it properly. So hopefully that will be the end of this saga mad.gif

sorry to hear about that fella, was lookin foward to seeing it too. hopefully its sorted quickly

Got my carby back today.Seems it had dirt in the rear bowl and was free flowing fuel into the motor causing it to flood. Will now have to take the fuel log off and clean it and try and flush the fuel lines as good as possible.Ultimately I think I will have to replace the fuel tank which is now 37 years old.
Undecided whether I will make a custom alli tank or take the easier option of fitting a fuel cell. The advantages of the fuel cell are it is ready to go with sender etc. and If I leave the filler in the boot I won't have to worry about spilling fuel on the stripes which kills them.BP ultimate eats acrylic and stripes like you wouldn't believe.
I'm thinking when summer is over I will give the whole fuel system an upgrade.

Good to see you traced the problem.

A fuel cell would be the way to go for ease, expecially if you are upgrading the whole lot too. Plus they are pretty neat and in the boot out of the way, I don't think the XW would be carting too much around!

Ok so I had to change the Ignition system due to a failure of the Crane unit.I now have a MSD Digital 6 which has two stage rev limiter and adjustments for variable timing when using NOS or a turbo.
Oh and it's shiny tongue.gif
Also did a couple of minnor fixes I had meant to do for a while.New overflow tube and tidy up of the vacuum tank line. wadesta/good.gif

Pulled the car out yesterday to give it a clean for the dyno day. When I picked it up from getting the new ignition it felt a bit soft on the way home.I was thinking the clutch is starting to slip but it's hard to tell in my car with the noise etc..Yeasterday I noticed the fuel pressure guage on the engine was reading 2psi sad.gif.It normally reads 9 psi.So I started looking for the problem.Noticed the switch for the pump was sitting funny in the dash.Turns out when the new ignition was wired up they did the right thing and pulled all the wires together and tied them up neatly.Unfortunately they pulled the back off the pump switch.Put it back in and cleaned the fuel filter and had 9 psi again. So today I go and put fuel in it and it is back to 2psi.Got back under the dash and fiddled with the wiring on the switch. It's very hard to reach as it's above the stereo but eventually i got it back to 7psi.Thats good enough for the dyno day but I will be replacing the troublesome pump ASAP with a 155gph mechanical pump. Also need to replace the fuel tank as I am getting a lot of crap in the filter still.

Ok the plan is too pul the fuel tank out and clean it.Does anyone know what the name of that paint is you can buy to line the inside of fuel tanks and where I can get it.
Cheers

OK tank is out

Found that the Blue silicone I had used and thought was fuel resistant was causing the problem.I couldn't get a new O ring for the pick up so I used the silicone.Turns out it wasn't fuel resistant. In the picture you can see the O ring and the silicone jelly and also a piece of race tape that I have no idea how it got in the tank. dry.gif
