Also took the fuel pump off and opened it up.In the picture the pin punch is pointing to the build up of silicone jelly and crap on the mesh filter.

This is the fiter mesh from inside the fuel pump.No wonder I have been having pressure problems. Now I have to put it all back together and hopefully have full power back wadesta/good.gif

Ok the plan is too pul the fuel tank out and clean it.Does anyone know what the name of that paint is you can buy to line the inside of fuel tanks and where I can get it.
Cheers

my mate used that paint on his bike tank so i will give him a call later today and get the name and where he got it from and will let you know

foz- 03-15-2008
Cheers mate but I probably won't need the paint now. The inside of the tank is like brand new. As you can see the problem was being caused by my stupidity in using blue silicone instead of chasing up a new O-ring. The O-rings stretch when you use them and are only really good for 1 use. They are a bit hard to come by but I will definately get one this time. wadesta/good.gif

A small update. The tank is back in and I have fitted a retractable seatbelt in the middle of the rear seat for my daughter.Need to source a couple of bits like aviation gasket for the pump and a new O-ring for the pick-up.Also need to modify the filter on the pick-up to stop debris sneaking past at the top of it.It's a Gemini in-tank pick-up and it wasn't designed for 1/2 inch pick-up. tongue.gif

OK car is running again.Repairs to the fuel system included.Silver soldering a cap on the in tank pick-up to seal it properly.Fitting a new o-ring to the pick-up and cleaning out the tank. Also replaced all the high pressure 1/2" fuel line from the tank to the pump and from the pump to the fuel line with 1/2" speed flow hose as the old line was starting to crack.Cleaned the pump and filter, put fuel in it and away it went. Now runs with a consistant 9psi of pressure.
The rear seat belt is in but I need to take the rear parcel shelf out and modify it to finish the job as well as making a fibreglass cover for the belt retracter to tidy it up.That can wait till after the Anzac day drags. wadesta/good.gif

Ripper time there mate wadesta/face.gif

Any street car running in the 12's is tuff in my book !

Keep up the good work

I only got 3 runs because the radistor started to leak so I think I can go quicker with more practice.looking at the incar video of my last run there is definately room for improvement in the gear shifts and launch technique. My goal is to run a 12.5 on the Yokies and then stick some "sticky tyres" on it and try for an 11. wadesta/buttrock.gif
