Alright, just looking for some ideas on what appears to be a slight problem.
Basically if I'm moving at very low speed and turn with a good degree of wheel there is a strange intermittant, very low pitch 'doof' sound which appears to be coming from the rear end somewhere. 'Almost' sounds like the tire is being dragged sideways across the road, but not quite.
I thought it may be the diff but there is no 'grind' noise which I would normally associate with a diff problem.
I have checked it over back to front as best as possible without suitable jacks or a hoist and the only anomally is a very small oil leak at the diff which has been there for a while.
For those that aren't aware car is a 2003 ba xt 5.4 manual sedan.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Its hard to tell without knowing what kind of "doof" sound it is tongue.gif. Could be a bush problem. When a trailing arm bush is on the way out it makes noises while turning. BUT, it would only make a noise turning one way, depending what ones dead. CV joints maybe need replacing? On a newer car though, seems strange.

Maybe someone else can help with more knowledge on the matter

Do you know if your diff is a LSD as it may be your clutch pack in the diff grabbing or staying lock try doing you sharp turns on dirt and see if a wheel leaves a drag mark should be he inside wheel on turn?

cheers for that, you might be right. Took it to Trent at TLT today and it appears it is probably inside the diff, maybe the clutch packs, either way the diff has to come out. So I am saying bye bye to my holiday money now sad.gif

Sorry mate I was hoping I may have been wrong as it can be rather costly once you have to go in there, you havent changed diff oil or added an additive lately as this can sometimes make your clutch pack stick together, just a thought.
