hey guys i have a 98 au fairmont vct, and for some reason im miss firing in a cylinder, thing is about 11 months ago i had the same problem that completely shut down my fourth cylinder, now it only hapens at low revs, last time this sort of thing happened i replaced the plugs and leads didnt fix anything but then i replaced my coil pak and it fixed it, but its strange that a coil pak would go after only a year, has anyone else had this problem? need help??

Had a miss fireing prob, but ended up being blocked/derty injectors, dought a coil pack would of gone again, did you have to replace all 3coil packs last time? And have ya checked for spark at all the leads and injector pulse etc. try pullin one lead off at a time and see which one doesnt make a defference to the idle? same with the injector plugs!

Also i see this car round Kelmscott abit? Live down this way?

just don't buzz urself whilst pulling em off!!! speaking from experience lol, i'd say its a different cylinder and possibly another coilpack.

yeah man i live in clifton hills, this problem i have it strange it dosent do it when im idling it like wen i take of from start, but once im in high revs it goes good so i have no idea last time it did this it completely shut down the 4th cylinder so i have no ideas anymore i mean if a coil pak blow once a year i think there is a bigger problem, and i thought there was only 1 coil pak were are the other 2?

Ahh thought it was around this area.

oh, are they all one unit? woops, im thinkin of crumpledore V6 which have 3 and the Ford V8 which use's 2 packs!

Um, highly dought coils again, check the resistance of each coil accross the plug on the coil pack, all 3 should be the within the same tolerence/resistance, Was it doin the exact same thing last time?

Or check basics first, plug gap, fuel qulity (try premo) etc, Had a car im work other similer prob, ended up being plug gap and one of the brand new leads was a little faulty, the plug end came off so hadnt been crimped properly, always recomend bosch parts!

If it doin it mid way through the rev range, old revs were it missin the most and proced to remove leads/injectors plugs etc. and yes i have booted myself heaps by removng HT leads biggrin.gif
