hey how its going guys i just bought a ef fairmont the other day and there is a major shaking in the car i thought i might of been the engine becuase but just did a compression test and all cylinders read 150 to 160 psi so just wondering if a f**ed diff will could that kinda of lack in perforance

tailshaft bearing?

not to sure if it would be that was good all good yesterday up to about 105k then it would start but now its all the time still think it could be that

possible. get under the car, grab hold of the tailshaft near the centre bearing and shake it, be REALLY ROUGH WITH IT.

If it moves in the direction you are shaking it, id say its a good chance.

ill do that now

just jumped under the car there seemed to be a small amount of movement but i was more concered with the click that from the diff when i did it

if you got movement by hand, then i would say it cant hurt to change it anyway i still think it might be the problem. i didnt hear it, but diff "click" might just be backlash, not really anything to worry about.

efs are single peice shaft,could be diff or could be a miss with engine from coil or sumthin

What does the shaking feel like and under what conditions does it shake. Is there any associated sounds, grinding, rattle etc... need more details.

ignore me its not your tailshaft bearing.

there is a hole in the exhuast wich is quite bad im getting that fixed saturday morning but but it feel like something is dragging back i check all the fireing order and all leads and spark plugs they are all in good nick and working proply its only shaking when u accelrate the engine sound sweet when in nuetrel

it sounds like its breaking down under load so i would be looking towards a coil or maybe even a dickie sparkplug

thanks to all that helped me with this problem after i changed the spark plugs put the new knn filter in it and oil and filter she runs a dream she goes like the clappers again only thing left to sort out is a squiking sound coming from the rear but that call just be the diff or wheel bearings thanks again for the help
