they certainly are Joel. I've got one in my car and they're brilliant.

If Matt doesn't have the wiring diagram anymore then jump onto the www.shiftkits.com site, get in touch with Jamie and see if he can email them to you.

Enjoy!

Sorry to go tad off topic but can u tell me a little bout wat they do? cuz there doesnt seem to be a very detailed description

In short, its one of the cheapest ways to tune your car. Get a chip like this and get someone to tune onto it. They are pretty good for the more basic applications.

I think he meant the shiftkits haha...

The way the gearboxes are controlled nowadays, there's a solenoid that detects when the car is about to change gear, and drops the line pressure just before to allow the bands to slip and make the characteristically smooth Falcon gear-change. What the electronic shiftkit does is trick this solenoid into thinking that it's already dropped the line pressure (or only has to drop it a little bit in the case of variable shiftkits like this one), and so it will demand full pressure during gear-change... making it a quicker, firmer shift. Some people argue it's bad for the box - myself, I say it's better:

Less friction from gear change means less heat which means a longer life from oil in the box... On the other side of the coin, it feels like a rough shift and if you have any backlash in your diff then you'll really notice it. That's pretty much it for +/-

Cheers for info smile.gif I'll check my bank account and let u know by lunch ok

Yep, this one of Matt's is the same: turn the shiftkit on/off with a switch, or can turn the dial right down and it has the exact same effect

will the switchchip be fine to re-program for my N/A ef?

EF ECTIV- 09-29-2009
from what Ive heard bpt and XFT choose to wipe the chip then start from scratch with a custom tune....

yep, heaps easier for them rather than stuff around editing/tweaking someone else's work.

hey just wondering what brand the chip is?
my EF needs a tune and wouldnt mind getting 1 sooooooonish!
so this mite be good smile.gif

EF ECTIV- 09-30-2009
Its the SCT eliminator switch chip same as what CAPA sell, also what
BPT and XFT use when tuning eseries...

It retails for $600ish plus $75 for the cable and ability to change
between tunes....

When I was using it I had one tune for 95ron petrol, another for
98ron, and one valet tune where it only revs to 3000 (perfect for when
the car is getting tyres or something similar)

edit: shiftkit sold pending payment

cooky- 09-30-2009
well without sounding dumb, i dont no anything at all about chips smile.gif
ive just been told that i need a chip n tune to make it run better as its rough atm!

so if i get this and say i use ur 98ron setting it would make her run better?

EF ECTIV- 09-30-2009
no as my car was tuned for boost.... It was also tuned on 55lbs injectors.... So if you plugged my chip itd run rich as hell at idle, and
probably wouldnt run at all....

Best bet would be to buy the chip, then get it retuned to suit....
