I wouldnt have touched mine If I didnt like it. Honestly getting power out of the car isnt cheap, some cars will see better results at different stages, especially $$$ wise.
Stock motor will see 10psi with ease, either a Vortech or even a Kenne Bell will satisfy your needs. 12 grand fitted for the KB but full boost at 1500 rpm! But it is 12 grand....
A stroker would see mid to low 13's with alloy heads, a stock stroker with alloy heads will nudge a 13 too. A xr6t will eat it for lunch on the track, but at a set of lights up to the speed limit you will be right next to him, maybe infront.
I would go a set of 3.9 diff gears first with a speedo corrector, you should knock off up to half a second and see whether you want to go faster or not. At 1500 it is the next logical step if you want a better time with out touching the motor, till you make your mind up with the next step.

a 100 shot of nos will get u there too 1500 fitted
petexr6t- 04-08-2008
if u still want a v8 then get a gen3. you can pick some up for less than 15k now. OTR intake, pacemaker headers, no cat and no centre muffler on an ss with a mafless tune and a set of 4.11's will be pushin 13 flats on slicks. about 13.5 on street trim. thats about 3.5k. up to you man.

I agree. If all you want is to go in the 13's at the drags then fit up a NOS system. Mine had the NOS connected before the supercharger (as you know). My best time was a 13.01 stock as a rock

how much money are we talking for a 13 second pass guys? What about a S/C? I got told i can bolt one on drive away for 5k...?
Talk to Kilma about what's been done to his EF... pretty sure it's just 3" exhaust, Vortech supercharger/injectors/fuel pump maybe, and a tune. His is manual and runs 13.5 so that should see you pretty happy and around the mid-late 13's I'd imagine.
Oh and Moody f*** off with your ls1 crap This is a bloody FORD club u tool hahahahaha
Besides... take it back to stock and go for a run against me. I'd be interested to see the comparison!!

im ashamed of you guys, egging me to go to the dark side, i could never do it, except one of those Astra VXR Turbos. woooooot there insane.
Im just getting bored of my car to be honest guys. I drove my mates XR6T which suposebly runs 12`s and holy krappers i had a very big smile on my face. I love the sound of them and the feeling of that boost.
Is there anything wrong with buying a Series One XR6T? You know the old story about series 1 cars!.
Downside of BA-BF`s.....One around every corner..
Elmo- 04-08-2008
funny how no one has mentioned stroker kit.......
And yeah there are alot of BA-BF's out there but its always the case with all of the models at their peak times, but i would say you see more XR6Ts than the 8's, because of the cheap Horsepower, its cost me around 7 grand to get to 13.5 god knows what its going to cost for the extra 1 sec to go...NA that is, supercharged I already know lol
Moody- 04-08-2008
mines a factory base model engine. and u wanna run it against the top of the line performance ford motor? apples and oranges mate
foz- 04-08-2008
One thing to remember Glenn is the AU XR8's are one of the sweetest handling cars around. They are a well kept secret. On good tyres I would put mine up against anything and not be put to shame.Probably the best advise you got was to go with NOS.You get cheap power when you need it and you get to keep a great car.
danc666- 04-08-2008
Glen to go faster you will need to spend some money, you could spend what it will cost you to upgrade to a ba xr6t on your car and you will have the time you want. What mods have you done to your car since you first started asking about how to make it faster? You can make any car go fast you just got to spend some money. (proof is a guy that has an old brick land rover that runs 10s i think over east) Your asking how to make it faster but you don't want to spend the coin to get there.

I wouldnt want a copper seeing under the bonnet and spotting the n20 lines.
Plus insurance wise, if you have the lines, they wont pay out, its as simple as that.
Getting power out of a windsor is easy but not cheap, still I reckon up to 8 grand and you'll have a car that goes hard and has manners with the windsor reliability too.
petexr6t- 04-09-2008
honestly man. you spend that much money and ur gonna be running 13.5-14 at the most. these days its not even that impressive. a ls1 with a mafless tune will 8/10 times go right past you and just keep going. trust me, iv driven more than a fair share of ls1's. even if u spent heaps stroking a 5 litre ull only get around 5.4 or 5.6litre capacity. a stock ls1 comes with 5.7 fresh out of the box. u dont wanna spend all that spendulah on high 13's.

a few of us xr6t's on here have had no problems even with big power. touchwood. you may see ba's everywhere, but how many cars do you see running 12's on street tyres.
pretty simply, ur car looks good. sounds good. but for bang for buck its a money pit. a money pit which will never be impressive down the quarter. for less than 6 g's
Moody- 04-09-2008
It will be cheaper to do this car. Buying an xr6t will incur extra money on top of what you can get for your xr8, you'll have transfer fee as well. Do diff gears, heads, cam, extractors, some port work and a tune and you'll have a 13 second car. put a shot of Nitrous in its guts and you'll have a 12. PS: Don't complain about economy with diff gears if you want a low 13 second car. economy will all ready be out the window.
Elmo- 04-09-2008
Another thing you'll have to consider is Insurance on a B series aswell being worth more etc etc
petexr6t- 04-09-2008
pretty sure a flash tune on a xr6t will be a lot more reliable and just as fast as a bombed out au
