i pumped them up to the reccomended 31psi..........i dunno if thats a bad thing or a good thing...might run them on 26 next time or something

my understanding of tyre pressure is that if you let them down a bit the tyres will belley-out a bit which gives more surface area, which means you can give it more curry without as much wheelspin.. smile.gif

also, they will sort of "stretch" out taller before they spin. it delays traction loss.

GlennO87- 10-07-2007
right right....cheers

I rekon i should be able to pull a 14.9 now....i dunno if i could do any faster than that. The scoop under the snorkle has made a fair wack of difference. When i ran the 15.0 i wasnt planning on going down there so i had three quaters of a tank. Wonder what i could do with quater of a tank hhmm

I got quoted a rough estimate of $4500 for a cam and to have it installed. Is that about right? Also is that the best way to go performance wise. There is cheaper things to get up and going like flash tunes and things isnt there?

schnoods- 11-15-2007
$4500 is a lot of money for the gains to be had with a cam swap as it is fairly labor intensive. Its around $500 for a cam, possibly new lifters on top and tuning to go with it, you should see 13's easily with the right combo.

They Do flash tuning for the AU XR8's now too so no chips needed.

I'd be going for the cam package myself but also get the heads looked at while your at it, a bit of porting goes along way if done right although it isnt cheap and you get what you pay for. Maybe alloy heads on top ($2500+) but it depends how much you are chasing and what $$$ you want to spend.

A set of diff gears would be a better value vs gains IMO, a set of 3.7's -3.9's would certainly shave 2/3 sec at the strip.

If not get a blower. wadesta/wink.gif

For another grand you could get a supercharger.

GlennO87- 11-15-2007
Im def gonna look at a flash tune for sure. Im wanting low 14`s is my aim. I need headers still...flash tune....dunno what else i can do besides going a S/C or a cam

foz- 11-15-2007
The easy power is in the air intake and exhaust and flash tune. You make big gains for relatively small outlay. After that it's a matter of how deep your pockets are. wadesta/good.gif

I run 40 psi in mine all the time, even on wednesday nights. My last run (couple months ago) I ran 14.6. All I've had done is pacemaker extractors and custom exhaust from APC.

I'll be going down on Wednesday night coming to try out my "new stuff". I had my supercharger installed couple of weeks ago and I get the tune Tuesday. Can't wait !. wadesta/clapping.gif

Have you thought about connecting NOS ?

Moody- 11-16-2007
A guy at work was talking abouta guy in his club (fpv/tickford???) with an s2 au with nos that runs low 13's on a st exhaust and engine. 5 speed though. Impressive for 100hp shot. cheapest power you'll ever get really.
Theres some really nice stealth installs available also.
Personally i would, and will be doing once my motors is in, Afr165's/cam combo, with a vic jnr mani. with all the intake stuff setup nicely.
But if you will be building thing up, i guess its best to upgrade the ignition and fuel sides of things first.

BPT's underdrives have a claimed 10rwkw for the 5l's aswell. dunno bout cost though.
ring BPT and tell them how much you wanna spend and see what they can do.

My best time with the nos was 13.01.

I don't know of any other cars in the fpv/tickford club that have nos connected to their au's

could be you hes talking about?
what else was done to yours with the nos? was it a 100 shot?
