What sort of blower?

Well thats the thing. To many to choose from. But only a few stand out in the croud. BPT have a Positive Displasement kit getting made up for the 3v. So when thats finished might see what it looks like and what sort of performance it has. They use the Eaton M122gen5 or an optional Whipple blower. They are getting 360- 400rwkw out of the kit.

Or I might go for a drive up to york and see mark at Marks Workshop and go the centrifugal Vortech unit. Either way im going intercooled. Try and get some big power out of the little 3v 5.4l.

I more want to go PD just because its always on if you know what I mean. No lag. And they seem to put out a little more power too. But will see what happens.

BPT are getting 360-400rwkw out of a PD Blown Boss 290. I wouldnt expect power like that from the 3 Valve. Maybe source some 4v heads and strengthen the bottom end - that will allow you to make some real power.

xt3valve- 01-29-2008
Yeh sorry mabey I should have pointed that out. I was just using that as an example of the capabilities of the kit. I wouldnt expect to get that out of the 3v. But hey anythings possible. Just depends how much money I want to throw at it. There is a 97 or 98 ford 5l windsor ute running around with a vortech unit on it with over 800hp at the boots

The 3v heads should be good. These motors were built for the F series trucks in the states and are torque monsters. Excellent low and mid range torque but not much up top. The Boss motors are the total opposite.

All the performance models in the states use the 3v engine. F seies Lightning, mustang gt500 and even the ford GT supercar uses the 3v engine. With performance mods of course. Only the 4.6l v8 uses the 4v heads over there. So I will stick with the 3v I think. With the excellent torque plus the added power and torque from the intercooled blower I think I will have a monster on my hands. But like I say we can only wait and see.

i say keep the surrounds black dude wadesta/good.gif

my bad didnt see it, no need to have a go

chrgd xr- 01-29-2008
personally id go the vortech. as youd know 3v make all there power down low in the rev range lack power up top where the vortech would come into play. as for pd versus vortech the vortech will produce the greater power figure due to it coming on later in rev range when pd is starting to fade. not an easy decision venturing in to new territory ( in perth anyway).

Im in the progress of getting a block built and looking at charger kits. Let me know when you need more info. I have done a lot of research.

Just correcting one of my posts. I said that some of the performance models use the 3v heads well I was wrong.

Yeh sorry I stand corrected the SVT Lightning uses the 2v heads. Totaly different again. The performance model mustang. The mustang GT uses the 3v heads and the Ford GT uses the 4v heads. The Shelby GT500 uses the 4v heads

Sorry for the misleading info. Pays to talk to people that know what they are talking about I just found out.

xt3valve- 01-30-2008
Cheers Darkxr my need some info when the time comes. I have found out that it all depends on who you talk to and which product THEY choose to use. Pays to look around befor you buy doesnt it.

Now you're onto it Shaun. The Ford GT has the Boss motor, as does the SVT Lightning if you watch Top Gear - because Jeremy's favourite car (GT) and most hated car (lightning) both have the same motor.

xt3valve- 01-30-2008
Yes but no. Its not the boss motor. Its different to the boss motor that we aussies use. Not shure on specs but do know that its not the same. Still 4v but.

xt3valve- 01-30-2008
Its not the boss motor. The last svt lightning to come out was in 2004 and use a 5.4-liter SOHC V-8 design not the quad cam like the boss. Its different to the boss motor that we aussies use. Not shure on specs but do know that its not the same. The americans dont have the BOSS motor over there. Ford australia put it together here

Bit of article proving its a 2v.

Sounds good mate. They've just finished the development of their power pipes for these and they look great!!! A mate picked up his Friday and we're gonna get it polished and throw it on next week.

Love the car mate, cant wait to see whats next!!!
