Cheers guys.

Yeh im quite lucky I found the 3v xt sitting in center ford. And to think I was going to buy a Ba 6cyl.

It is a rare and unique car. And I have made it even more unique moding it to my personal tastes and likes.

Im hoping after the blower is installed it will be the fastest 3v BA XT in Western Australia if not Australia. The record is 11.77 down the quarter. This was made by a 3v singal turbo fairmont making 315rwkw with all stock driveline. Im hoping for about 340rwkw so I dont see why it wont be possible to smash it.

Went to BPR and asked about the diff gears. Barry said I will be making so much touque with the 3v and if I get diff gears with the blower I may as well delete 1st gear. He said it would rev so quick it would be hard to change without hitting the rev limmiter wadesta/face.gif . SO i will see how it goes with the 3.23 LSD it has atm. And may opt for the 3.7 gears down the track. Will see how the 1/4mile times go.

MR XR- 06-24-2008
yea id say 3.7's would be max, especially with the PD, maybe if it were a Vortech, then look at the 4.11's. but omg the 4.11's are sooo much fun biggrin.gif

fnp- 06-24-2008
I reckon 4.11s could actually slow you down over the quarter.

With that much power you'll be looking at pretty high trap speeds and if you go too nuts with diff gearing you might need another gear change. Havn't worked out the exact numbers myself but I probably wouldn't bother about diff gears personally.

BlacklistedXR- 06-24-2008
Thats probably the best thing to do. Get your charger and mods on first and see how it performs and then if you require a shorter gear then go for it. Usually if you have alot of low down torque then you generally wont need diff gears as it picks up from the bottom revs quite well anyway. However, 3.23 is quite a long gear and you may want to upgrade to a 3.45 or if that isnt enough than a 3.7.

xt3valve- 06-24-2008
yeh barry recomended the 3.45 gears. but i cant justify paying all that money for just a small change. For the money would rather pay for 3.7

Just a little update on the blower situation.

Went and saw Barry from BPT on friday. The blower head unit and manifold has arived from the USA. There using the Whipple industries manifold. THey are currently milling up the adaptor plate for the blower head unit to fit the manifold. They have cut out the bracket to mount the altinator onto seems they have to move it to accomidate the blower. Um yeh once they have done that its just a matter of them putting it all together and booking the car in to get it installed.

It has taken a little longer than I had hoped but all good thing come to those who wait they say.

At the same time I am getting a 3 pod guage holder fitted with Auto Meter Cobalt gauges.

Im not getting diff gears fitted now. Barry said that the car will make so much touque as is. And if I get diff gears it wouldnt be very impractical to drive and will also go through too many tyres.

He also said that it will be only the 4th BPT kit for the 3v in Australia and the only one in WA. And the first that they have installed inhouse. Which is pretty cool.

Oh and the LIONHUNTR plates are in the mail so will get them in a week or so. wadesta/buttrock.gif

Oh yeh and me and the missus also just put a deposit on our first house in Banksia Grove last week. So hopefully the finance goes through and I get my house biggrin.gif

Very nice build up so far wadesta/wink.gif

Wonder how many XT 8's there are out there, they ll be one of the rairest things out atm.

Do the BA use the same IRS setup as the AU, cause pretty sure all the AU V8 had 3.45, i know mine does, could be a cheaper option to find a wrecked one somewhere and flog the whole diff unit?!

Xran- 07-12-2008
You also have a GHIA... which mostly come with the Tickford driveline.

With that much grunt, as you've decided Shaun... diff gears should be left as-is. Mine doesn't have anywhere near that power and can still be a pig to drive with 3.45's in it, and to me it peaks too early. Thank god it's not the manual or else my tyres wouldn't be rubber, they'd be pure smoke... Got me stuffed how Peeler keeps rubber on rim haha

I think you'll find he's talking about the AU Pursuit 250 Ute...

Anyway back on topic...

I bet your champing at the bit for it all to come together now eh fella..

Are you having to do anything with the exhaust again?

Xran- 07-12-2008
yeah back on topic....

(both of mine have 3.45's in them - my EF has a complete XR6 driveline now haha. But I was talking about the ute, given that it's a V8 and this XT3v is a V8...)

Na the exhaust is more than enough for the blower. I have the high flow di-fillipo extractors and a twin 2.5inch exhaust with only the rear muffler. Plus the dump pipes.

Cheers elmo

BA IRS is totally different, much more advanced then the AU setup.

Are you doing anything with the transmission to help it cope with all this power? I'm pretty sure XR6T and XR8 transmissions use stronger internals then base model autos.

xt3valve- 07-13-2008
To my understanding when you purchase the 3v option from factory you get the v8 auto aswell. Which maked sence seems its a v8.

Turbo and all v8 models have the same auto box.

Awesome mate!

Next time you go to BPT ask Barry/Terry when my Autometer Cobalt gauges are arriving!! haha Ive been waiting months smile.gif
