Well as most of you probably already know and some have witnessed. I had a bit of bad luck at Powercruise.
The day started great. A little diorganised on Powercruises part. But we all eventualy settled down and found a spot where we could all park together.
I entered in the first powercruise session on saturday morning at about 9.30am. Being the second groupe to get onto the track. And I must say I had the best time having a ball crising around barbagallo raceway. Its totally different when your driving on the track than it is when your watching it on TV. The car behaved great around the corners and had ample power down the straights. I couldnt be happier.
After that I parked the car up and changed the rear wheels over to the stockies, and gave the car a rest untill about 11am. 11am being when you had to line up to enter the powerskid comp.
Powerskid time came up. So a good 60 cars including me did a lap around Barbs and lined up at the start of the main straight. I was about the 6th in line to do my skid. Watching the cars in front of me doing skids I thaught to myself. Gees im going to embarass myself because of the small powerskid im going to do.
Anyway my turn came up. So I drove forward to the start line. The organiser came over and layed down the rules "no static burnouts, no drifting and no brakes". OK I said. And off I went. Planting my foot down to the floor loosing traction instantly, 1st gear bouncing on the limiter almost at the same time. Smashed it into second, car slowley swaying side to side, me keeping it at about half to three quarter throttle still in second. At this time I was totaly cool with everything, slightly turning the steering wheel trying to keep the car in some sort of straight line. And than almost out of nowhere the rear sways to the left (thats when the bolt that holds the whole diff from seperating from the car snaped). Straight off the gas I tried to correct it but no luck. The car veered onto the grass heading for the control tower center of track. I said to myself f*** that im not hitting that. So back on the gas as I tried to steer around it. But no luck, the drivers side rear cliped the wall, and with the wheels in full lock in the opposite direction the car headed in the same way directing me towards the other side of the track, and straight into the wall on that side.
It all happened so fast but amazingly I can remember every second of it happening almost in slow motion. Strange.
But I did the righty and didnt plant on the brakes for the whole incident. In the in car vid I have you can here me getting on and off the loud pedal trying to gain control.
Unfortunatly the camera I have is one of the lod ones that takes the mini tapes. So I cant upload it onto the computer. But if anyone has any ideas or can do it some how. I can give you the camera any you can upload it some how. Its worth a watch. Giving you a drivers prespective.
Anyway the main things im ok. I got wisked away by the medics and checked over. The only thing they said was that I was absoltly pumped full of adrenalin. Which I was let me tell you.
Cheers Shaun

Heres a few pics of the damage.
Its going to be extreamly difficult for me to get this car back on the road. As I have just bought a house and still owe BPT a bit of cash. Im not looking for sympothy but if anyone knows anybody that may have a part or parts that they think I may need Please PM me or let me know please. As im going to have to do it on the cheap unfortunatly. I cant claim insurance because of the blower so thats out the window. And I dont mind posting this on a public forum because of that reason.
I think there may be a little suspention damage also but wont know untill I get it inspected.
It will be a while until the LIONHUNTR sees the road again but it will be back. Well one day.
So yeh is anybody can help in anyway finding parts I would be very gratefull.
Cheers Shaun

Need a new top radiator support pannel. Notice where the bolts have been folded over on the end. but that whole end has been bent up.
And heres wazza's vid of the start of the incident.
:0 the car has a bit of damage, but the main thing, Shaun is you came out allright except needing a change of undies no doubt

Not to mention insurance being void as it happened at a motorsport event
Really sorry to see this, hope all works out ok for you mate. Sometimes it'd be nice if you could rewind time but unfortunately these things happen.
Is this your daily driver or do you have another means of transport?

Unlucky what happened mate. It shouldnt cost too much too get the car fixed if you do it on the cheap. I know someone who owns a wrecker at fremantle so theres a good chance that he has a ba falcon that you can get a few parts off. I also know someone who works at Ford and the parts that he normally gets me are very cheap so ill ask around for you mate and try and help you out a bit. My dad has a mate who is a panel beater so he might be able to help you out or you can take it to a TAFE campus and the 2nd or 3rd year students work on your car and i beleive all you have to pay is the parts. Post up if you find any more damage beside the ones shown in the photos. I want to help get LIONHUNTR back on the road!

Cheers Ben.
And damn it does a good powerskid. If I kept it straight I still had 3rd gear to go. I recon I could have gone the whole straight. hehehe

shame to see a nice clean car go like that dude
you are correct it did a sweet skid doubt u would have gone the whoel distance but prolly another 50 mtrs or so easy
pretty sure there is a BA on the forum gettign wrecked too
Sarge- 10-12-2008
Mate, that is some very bad luck. I was standing along the main straight. It all looked great until it went really sideways. You were very lucky not to do much more to it, like hit that plastic barrier front on. I have a video if you want it, but it was very shit cause when u got on the grass, i stopped thinking about the camera and watched. Sorry to here. How bad is the suspension damage. i walked past afterwards and saw it wasnt pointing very straight

Cheers for your help mate. If you could ask your mate at the wreckers that would be great. Any colour panels would be ok. Can always get them painted.
And the TAFE idea is a very good one. Its not as if they are going to do a bad job because the lecturer will want them to do it properly.
Cheers again Shaun

Hey mate.
If you have a vid post it up mate. Any vid is better than no vid.
Honestly I wish I did hit that barrier. Probably would have done less damage. But instead I tried to steer it between that barrier and the wall. I couldnt steer it anyway with the diff floating underneath me.
I dont know what damage has been done to the suspention. Hopefully the front wheel alignment is servearly our caused by the knock. And nothing is bent. And hopefully when the bolt is replaced the rear suspention goes back to normal. But I think I may have bent somthing on the left habd rear as it looks a bit out.
Cheers mate.

Mate you will probably have to get it put on a panelbeaters jig to make sure it is still square. You don't want it trying to crab sideways as you are driving down the road.

Sounds expensive foz. Might chance it as sadly funds wont allow it.
