dude save for replacement shell will be heaps easier IMO put on the snags and beers and many of us will be round get it done no time at all.

Not a bad idea actually, if you can find a BA, especially a cheap one that has a f***ed drivetrain or something.. not likely I know but still.

xt3valve- 03-15-2009
Good idea but also a very bad idea.

If i got a replacement shell. I would still need to buy all the pannels to put on it. All wireing needs to be transfered, interiour swaped, engine and all drivetrain swaped ect ect ect.

Would end up costing 5 times more and take 10 times longer to do.

If I bought a falcon with stuffed drivetrain or similar for one if it was a 6cyl body it wouldnt be licenced for an 8. Causing so many problems. like licencing, going over the pits. Plus the blower isnt exactly street legal at the moment. Plus you would have to transfer engine gearbox basicly the whole driveline over. All electrics. And it would be a 1 in a million chance of finding a broken 3v 5.4l licenced body.

But if keep my car its already licenced as a v8. No swapping drivelines or electrics. And all I have to do is buy some replacement pannels, a bit of pannel work and some paint. No licencing or pits to worry about.

So yeh.

And If I was going to get another body (which im not going to do) I would slap the driveline in a EL fairmont.

Tocchi- 03-15-2009
checked to see if the chassis is straight yet? (on an actual machine)

id be doing that first before anything else.

Good points, also a lot of missed ideas there big fella.

You have your current car which is likely twisted after that impact. That car has all it's badges, stamps and plaques.

Get a new shell and swap them all over. Re-birth your current car into the other shell, and so what if it takes a while to change over all the wiring looms and the driveline? It's still a cheap way to do it, and there's plenty of time around - and the best part is that time spent on weekends = labour of luuurve with your baby haha.

I reckon it would be a great way to spend the weekends of a few months. Not only will you learn a lot more about it all and where it all goes and blah blah blah but doing it like that will give you a feeling of satisfaction when you can look at it afterwards and say "I did that in the back yard with the help of some mates."

I don't know about you, but to me that's a much better feeling than only being able to say "yeah, I took it to X-shop for the paint, Y-shop for changing the driveline over" etc.

In the end though, it's up to you. You'll be able to get those billet wheels quicker though if you DIY wink.gif

Sounds all too hard. Im just payin some bugger to do it for me. Easy way out it seems but doing it myself would take 3 times longer and I just want my car back asap. Plus they kn ow what there doing.

Im possitive the chassis isnt bent. It didnt hit the wall that hard. And no chassis components were hit at all. Only pannel damage. If down the track I find it is bent then I will deal with that then. But I highly doubt it. Yeh yeh yeh I know get it checked anyway bla bla bla. My car my way.

Tocchi- 03-16-2009
fair enough. but i hope to f*** im not near you car on the road when im driving

Why?

If the chassis is bent or buckled in a way that you can't see with the naked eye, which is more likely than not after that impact, and with the amount of torque generated by that blower - I don't want to be anywhere near your car in that condition either.

Fair enough your car, your way. But if you plant your foot to overtake me on a cruise and the chassis buckles from the weight transfer and torque and you damage me, my car or any of it's other occupants then not only will you be a dead man walking, you will be replacing my car.

Yes I'm a grumpy sonofabitch tonight. Not meant as a personal dig shaun, I would say the same thing to anybody else who was in your boots doing the same thing mate.

MAVTOR- 03-16-2009
I would have thought best let the pros decide how bad it is when it dose get check out as stated before, and deal with it then, anything can be fix it just depends on the price a bent chassis is not the end of the world.

Hahahahaha yeh right. If it did that and your near me and you get hurt and your poor little car gets damaged tuff luck mate your bad your loss. If it gets damaged you can stick your car up your ass. I aint payin shit. I will take that as a personal dig. I will be a dead an will I. You gonna personaly kill me or will you pay for someone to do it for you mate. Hopefully when my car twists like slinky as you say when your next to me you crash and die.

Oh not having a personal dig mate. Im grumpy Pffft.

Dont say stupid shit mate. Just dont drive next to me. Simple isnt it.

When I save some money and get it assesed by some smash reparers I will then make my decission on what I will do about the chassis. Until then its a waiting game.

your a f***wit....

fnp- 03-17-2009
The guys have a point though even if it may have been made a bit pointedly. You don't want to take dodgy shortcuts with a car like that surely, how much would it suck to get it on the road again only for another accident to occur.

Frost- 03-17-2009
It can't be that expensive to get the chassis checked can it? I'm suprised that awesome blower didn't twist the thing like a twistee anyway:)

xt3valve- 03-17-2009
It all costs money people. And with myself not having the best luck lately with jobs its something I dont have much of.

So as I said once I save up some money I will get it checked over by some pannel beaters and see what they think. Yes I might not cost much to get it checked but I dont have the money to pay for such things. Im lucky to even pay the mortgage at the moment.

Sorry for that post Xran. Im just getting frustrated about the whole thing. Spending all that money on the car to just see it collect dust in the driveway. And not being able to do anything about it. Cant even get a personal loan as I already have one for the blower.

Put yourself in the same situation and im shure you would know what I mean.

So sorry again for being a dickhead. Your only trying to offer some help.

I deleted the post but you can still read it in EF ECTIV's post. So yeh.

Im going to have a break from these forums for a while. You might see me on here for a looksee everynow and again. Im spending way too much time on here after work and not enough with the other half.

So catchas around. I will update this thread when the cars fixed someday.

good luck Shaun smile.gif hope it all turns around for the better soon wadesta/thumbsup.gif
