Hey Guys, Cars been hard to start, intermittently anyway. ISC is new, throttle body is clean, plugs new, leads new. Whats happening is the engine will sometimes wind over for 3 or 4 seconds before it starts as apossed to starting straight away as it has always done. I have taken the TPS off and refitted, and the engine started properly but the auto was changing funny, hanging in gear to long, pulled the TPS off again and refitted, auto back to normal but not starting properly. Sounds like something wrong with the TPS but Iv'e been wrong before, any thoughts.

Finally solved my problem. Apparently when you adjust the base idle, which I did when I fitted my cam you have to check and maybe adjust the TPS to the correct voltage. I had to file out the locating holes on the TPS to adjust it enough to get the correct voltage.

and u didnt break the TPS like everyone! it needs to be at .98V's but u prob already know that now. actually i dunno if its the same for the 6's as 8's.....
maybe u can enlighten us.

Yes the same as the V8's .98v, it has to be below 1.0v. This is the note I wrote myself in my Gregory's manual. Ignition on engine off, attach the positive probe from the multi meter to the green wire and the negative probe to the black wire (these are the wires coming out of the back of the TPS plug), to do this I pushed a glass head pin into the wire and attached the probes with alligator clips. Move the TPS to get the correct voltage. Any time you adjust the base Idle you need to adjust the TPS voltage.

Why did you have to adjust the base idle John? Didn't like the grumpy 1636 being a pig?

Yeah pretty much, although the stock ECU did adjust after a day or two, the lower vacum and idle wasn't good.
