Am chasing a 65mm throttle body for a 5.0L (EB-AU)

Will swap for my 70mm if wanted....

Reason: My car was quicker '60 foot with the smaller one!! Am regretting upgrading!

If anyone has seen one around please let us know!!

Cheers!

What brand is your 70mm?

xf84- 04-15-2009
BBK.

Also have matching polished spacer. BPT modded it with the brackets for accel cable.

Am spewing after last night at WAW. Running slower than before car was tuned/upgraded to 70mm TB. Plus recently put in stall converter.

'60 foot is only 2.38 at BEST. I was running a 2.37 before I had tuned anything, running my 65mm.... wish i didn't sell the one I had!! ohmy.gif

Blaming the 70mm T/B for dropping only .01 (thats 100th of a second) off your 60ft is abit wrong dude.

The issue would be elsewhere.

No, it a number of issues.

even when i picked the car up after being 'tuned' with the 70mm fitted (they replaced the 65mm), i noticed take-off was waaaay slower, but up high better....

I've been putting up with it for a while now, and its time to change back. I did a test a few years back with 70mm and 65mm (before car tuned, just resetting ecu), and it went a lot better with the 65. The only reason i put the 70 back on was because they recommended it, and said they would tune it accordingly....

So now, i'm sick of listening to what people 'think', and i'm doing what I know I've actually experienced by driving the thing. I thoight by putting the stally in, it may have helped the take off.

As for 60ft times, most were 2.4 - 2.5. I only managed to achieve 2.38 on one occasion (out of MANY).

There's a couple on ebay atm anyway, so i'll keep an eye on them.

on another whinging note - its so frustrating to see blokes with their LS1's and cam and cold air intake running in the 12's..... wadesta/C1.gif

oh, and the car has done a power run and it made close to what it did when it was tuned by BPT over a year ago... (190kw odd at the rear). When I change it and I'm wrong, will let you all know.... But somehow I don't believe it will run any slower thats for sure

them lot would be running massive stalls and diff gears too, alot of the time they lie about what mods are done.

what sort of diff ratio if its the factory 2.92 or 2.77 theres your problem.

XH5LWEPN- 04-19-2009
Pretty sure its a 3.73.

What would be the chances of getting the 70mm TB off you?

I'm assuming these should be bigger than the std 6cyl ones? My intake tract will be a little.... different... to normal and thinking of moving mine, so figure why not upgrade at the same time.

Cheers

Will let you know once I getr my new one. I won it on ebay so just have to wait for it now.

I'm going to get xtreme ford to re-tune my car. He's going to run it on dyno as is now, then pull out chip, re-run it. Then fit new 65mm TB, and tune again....

Will let you guys know the result

Good choice mate!!

SNAKEYES- 04-20-2009
Did you get a custom tune with a flash box because i have heard that their is a few problems with people getting the custom tune and going slower the custom tune might be showing good results on the dyno but down the track its C***

xf84- 04-21-2009
Tuned with SCT Switch Chip eliminator....

At the time was told by BPT they no longer supply and tune Tweecer (which is what i wanted)

Xtreme for seem to know their stuff according to most blokes.

But yes, dyno figures looked good last year, but that dont mean the car will be quicker!

Simon is THE man.

Can't speak highly enough of the customer service I got from him or the quality of the tune. Both were excellent.

Oh and yeah cheers man, will be keen to see if it'll be feasible for mine.
