No pics at them moment mate.

The crack is approx 25-30mm long going horizontaly across the top of where the clutch cable goes through.

Will be making up a steel support using approx 4mm thick steel plate that will go over the cable outlet and bolt to the firewall. Welded onto that will be a sleeve that will shroud the orignal clutch cable spout. This sleeve will now take the load of the clutch cable and spread it over the whole plate which wll be bolted at all four corners.

Should hopefully do the trick well.

a xd e f bracket can be bolted on the outside , if you remove the bit the cable runs threw , and drill a couple of holes for the bolts

any 6cyl xd xe with cable clutch will have one, it actually bolts on like the old clutch master did in the xb c , does that help

does this make any difference with the Mal Wood Clutch Pin vs factory-fitted pedal box?

ie will the pedal box prevent this from happening or is it just another e-series quirk that the clutch cable hole is made from paper?

take the cable holder out, sit this in there , have a look from inside the car to line it up properly drill the holes , bolt it up.
i have not got a pic of it fitted

I had the same thing happen in my XG ute, i just welded the crack then welded a plate over the area. The plate was 65mm x 50mm x 3mm with a hole to go around the pipe i also welded it to the pipe. It is such a common problem that Ford made a kit to fix it. You'd be hard pressed to find one now tho and i can't remember the part number.
