Alan, the 1 5/8" Tri-Y's suit its current combo alot better than the Di-fillipos.
But with a bit of FI down its throat the 1 3/4" 4-1's will compliment that alot better.

Will hopefully run it down the strip N/A again first, so we'll see if they did make any difference along with the larger exhaust. Shall be interesting.

new rims look thegoods jeff.... surprised more people dont run them.they look pretty killer.....

Scaffy- 07-31-2009
Jeff, if you haven't put the DeFilippos on yet, check where the primaries are welded to the flange and make sure there are no cracks. I had about 5 sets of gaskets changed before I took mine to Dom, only to find they were cracked. He fixed them and they've been great since.

I wish I'd known you were looking to swap headers. I've been thinking about having a go at some tri-ys for a while now. I'd expect to see a bit more torque out of them.

When are we going to the strip??? I want to be able to race you once more NA. Should be much closer than last time.

Oh yeah, I'm a sucker for the dark rims. I think they look mint!

Yeah Chad i remember what Dom done to your headers. Had a good look at these ones and they all seem fine.

Yeah spewing i didnt even think. Sorry man. Youd be spewin if you lost power etc though aye. I mean you'd probly gain abit of torque but the Di-fillipos would prob be stronger over 4000rpm, which is where the revs spend 90% of their time at the strip. So i think you may have went backwards as far as quarter mile times go. But id say theyd definately feel better on the street.

Im hanging out for September to come mate. Dunno how we'll go racing each other though, coz i wanna borrow those slicks for a run wink.gif

Could have cleaned it first though.

All I seem to read here is *whinge whinge whinge*. tongue.gif

Hmm, something up Damon?

Nah. Just having a crack at the Chris-rivalling-perfectionist within you Jeff. tongue.gif Looks too clean in that pic (as it does with every pic) anyway. biggrin.gif

Yeah, you can grab the slicks no worries. I want to have another go without them anyway, as I've run 1.9 60s on the 18s before and want to see if I can do it again.

Haha, i meant i should have cleaned the wheel first, not the car.

No worries Chad, Sounds good.

Got the Di-fillipos fitted up last night.
They are WAY easier to fit than the Pacemaker PH4000's. The Pacies are F******G shocking compared to the DF's.
The DF's have larger 1 3/4" primaries but are somehow easier to get the bolts in next to onto the header flange than they are to do on the Pacies.
Got a few comparison pics.
First is just the drivers side DF compared to the Pacie. As you can see the cyl 3 and 4 primaries on the DF go up, over and behind the steering shaft meaning that the shaft MUST be removed when fitting the DF's. Whereas the cyl 3 and 4 primaries and secondary collector on the Pacies are seperable from the rest so the steering shaft can be left on when installing and the headers be installed in two seperate pieces. It is way easier to remove the steering shaft first anyway, no matter what headers you are fitting. Its only two bolts and a bit of WD lube.

Second pic is obviously the two passenger side headers compared. This side is pretty straight forward but is harder to fit the bolts for the header flange to head as the aircon pipe is in the way. Alot easier if you've got little skinny arms and fingers lol.

Here is a pic of the difference between the collector outlet sizes. BIG difference. I cant remember exact measurements (and cant be bothered going out to shed to grab the bit of paper i worte them on) but the Pacies came in at around 2 1/4", maybe just under. And the DF's came in at just over 2 3/4" but not quite 3". Definately alot better flow through this point.

This is a pic of the primary ports from the flange plate. Not alot of difference here as they both have to match the cylinder head, but once passed this point th DF is obviously bigger with primaries at 1 3/4" compared the 1 5/8" Pacies.

Last pic is of the difference in position of collectors from the two headers when bolted to the engine. Obviously the DF's on the right of pic and the Pacies on the left. Also again shows the big difference in collector outlet sizes.

So they are all on and ready to go to Doms on wednesday. Will hopefully have Gerrin picking her up in the morning.
The X-force cats will be getting re-flanged at the front with the DF 4-bolt type flanges to suit the headers. Then the rear of the cats will be getting re-flanged to suit the new 2.5" system.
Looking forward to it.

Should hopefully see it back sometime next week.

We have progress.
Mid section needs to be polished still, and mounting/hanging brackets done on tailpipes.
Gotta love Doms work. Weldless mandrel bent systems FTMFW!!
